Welcome to Zagreb


The capital of the Republic Croatia is the center of cultural and entertainment offer. Today's Zagreb has grown out of two medieval settlements that for centuries developed on neighbouring hills, Kaptol and Gradec.
The old city walls and towers together with numerous parks and lavishing palaces, monasteries and churches act as a setting for everyday life and the city’s cultural and art events. In addition to multiple historical sights, Zagreb offers to its citizens and tourists a diverse cultural program and the city’s night life is enriched by theatre plays, both classical and pop concerts, and a number of festivals.

Zagreb Climate


Zagreb is located in the continental part of central Croatia, with the continental climate with four separate seasons. Summers are hot and dry, average temperatures vary from 35° C or more in the warmest months during the summer (July, August) to average, comfortable temperature 20° C. Winters are cold with average temperatures from 1° C, but in the coldest months of the winter you can expect temperatures going under the 0° C (from-1 ° C to -5° C on average). Snowfall is common in winter months, from December to March. City streets and numerous parks are covered with snow, and the citizens of Zagreb enjoy winter activities on the most popular Zagreb ski destination, Sljeme.


History and Architecture


Regarding Zagreb's past and significance, this central European city is rich with cultural and architectural monuments. In the city center you will find extreme diversity in architecture, form baroque, romanticism to noways. The most recognizable city attractions include Croatian National Theater, settled in amazing neo-baroque building and the Zagreb Cathedral, most valuable monument of Croatian cultural heritage.


Historical core ot the Zagreb city


Upper Town or Gradec, make the historical core of the Zagreb city. Main square of the Upper Town is the St. Mark Square, once a trading venue and nowadays the political center of Zagreb. The Square is dominated by church od St. Mark, Gothic building dating from 14 century.

Lower Town


Lower Town of Zagreb is urban center of modern Zagreb. Lower Town architecture mainly dates form 19. and 20. century. Meeting place for most citizens of Zagreb and the biggest pedestrian zone in town, the main city square, Ban Josip Jelačić Square, is also the boundary between Upper and Lower Town.
